After seeing one of our guys beheaded today and after witnessing all the crazy stuff the last few years I'm not sure I could uphold the Geneva Convention rules either. What would you do?

Johnny,

I completely agree with you. Nevertheless, the prisoners aren't at fault and I wouldn't have mistreated them. It wouldn't be worth getting in serious trouble over an Iraqi prisoner.

I would certainly uphold the values of the convention agreement. We are not taught to mistreat people. We SWORE not to. There is a reason.

What an incrdibly terrible mess the whole Iraq, Middle East issue has become. Unfortunately it seems to be only just starting. Violence only begats more violence.

True enough wilheim, just look at the Isreali and Palestinian issue. There will never be a solution. Even if Isreal would give half of their country to the Palestinians, they would never be satisfied until they occupy the entire state of Isreal, and Isreal would never do that.

Its not like the guys in the prison are the same guys who did it, thats foolish. You might as well be saying I'm going to head downtown to the local Kebab house and beat up Habib, cause he has about as much connection to the beheading as the Abu Gharib prisoners do.

Disgusting to say the least. I would like to think I would still honor an oath to abide by the GC.

What the Americans are doing in Iraq is the exact same thing Saddam did. The Americans chance of winning their war for oil is slim to none now. And I don't feel sorry for them. After seeing how they torture the iraqie prisoners, they should rot in hell.

While I don't support the abuse of Iraqi prisoners, I don't think we're doing "the exact same thing Saddam did." As far as I know, we haven't killed any of the prisoners. We've just hazed them like fraternity pledges.

Maybe I was wrong:

It was "60 Minutes II" that first aired pictures two weeks ago of prisoners allegedly being abused at Abu Ghraib, igniting a political tempest.

"We've already had two prisoners die ... but who cares?" the soldier says on the tape. "That's two less for me to worry about."

The tape reflects the soldier's dislike for the prison camp and the prisoners, according to CBS.

"I hate it here," she says. "I want to come home. I want to be a civilian again. We actually shot two prisoners today. One got shot in the chest for swinging a pole against our people on the feed team. One got shot in the arm. We don't know if the one we shot in the chest is dead yet."

I don't know if the Americans have killed any prisoners - although I would be surprised if they haven't - but don't you think most of them would prefer to be dead than going through the torture from the Americans?

The little sympathy the Americans had is totally gone now and it will never come back.

Well the liberal media is all in a tizzy over what is about the equvilent of fraternity initiation.

But says vitually nothing over a beheading.

I mean if those Iraqy prisoners who were being held for attempting to kill Americans had their choice what would you think they would have chosen? Womans panties over their head or no head at all.
The media makes me sick....Those American guards should be punished and policys changed but the hystaria over these minor, major violations is absurd.

"The liberal media" is a fantasy created by Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity.

Meanwhile, the St Petersburg Times, Florida's largest newspaper, had the beheading story on Page 1A above the fold.

In their editor's eyes, the beheading of innocent civilians is just as horrific as the U.S. dropping cluster bombs on innocent civilians from 20,000 feet.

In the eyes of some of the bloodthirsty American public, only American deaths mean anything. Iraqi deaths don't count.

It seems clear which group PAT is in.

I don't know alot about the Muslim faith, but do know that dying does not have the same fear associated with it as it does in the West. For them, the humiliation associated with homosexuality, female domination, and forced sexuality is infinitely worse than a beheading. I feel for those prisoners who now must face their families (interesting to note that most have been released ... says alot about their guilt, doesn't it?) and I'm glad that your Senate is choosing to withhold the remaining photos/video from the public.

No, you don't. You don't give a rat's ass about the Bergs at all ... you are as thrilled to see these terrorists publicise this man's terrible death as much as they were glad to see the Arab media publicise the prisoner's abuse. This is fodder for your racist bullshit and you are, in my opinion, no better than they.

How dare you question mied429's sincerity. I've got a mind to send you over to Abu Ghraib and have Ms. England work you over with an unfriendly strap-on while you're handcuffed to your cell door.
